About us

Policies

Registered charity 1218360

We pay the fee that stands between someone and their course.

And we serve hot food to anyone who needs it. Manraj's Foundation is a new charity in Crawley, rooted in the Sikh tradition of sewa, open to everyone.

  • Open to all faiths and none
  • We pay colleges directly
  • Volunteer led

What we do

Two programmes, one idea

Remove the practical obstacle in front of someone, then get out of the way.

  • Education Fund

Help with course fees, exam entry, books and travel to study, paid straight to the provider.

  • Homeless Support

Hot food, warm clothing, and someone to walk with you to the housing office.

How it works

From asking to paid

No long forms and no interviews.

  1. Tell us what you need

A short form, a phone call, or a letter. Whichever suits you.

  2. We check we can help

We look at where you live, what the cost is, and whether other funding already covers it.

  3. We pay the provider

Wherever we can, the money goes straight to the college or the awarding body.

Why us

A new charity that would rather show its workings

We registered in June 2026. We have no track record to point at, so we publish the things a track record would otherwise prove.

  • Our grant criteria are written down before we spend
  • Every decision is recorded
  • Trustees are unpaid

What we are registered to do

This is the wording on the public register, unedited.

To advance the Sikh faith in England and Wales in accordance with the inclusive values of service, equality and compassion, through chaplaincy, pastoral support, religious education and community outreach.

Principles

Four rules we hold ourselves to

Short enough to remember.

  • Pay the institution

Money goes to the college, not to a bank account, which protects the applicant and the charity.

  • Never a condition

We do not ask anyone to attend anything, believe anything, or thank anyone.

Questions

The things people ask first

Are you a real registered charity?

Yes. We are charity number 1218360 on the Charity Commission register for England and Wales.

Do I have to be Sikh?

No. Support is open to anyone regardless of faith, ethnicity or background.

If you need help today

We are not an emergency service. If you have nowhere to sleep tonight, contact your council's housing options team. If someone is in immediate danger, ring 999.

Send us a message

A trustee or volunteer reads everything that comes in.

We keep what you send secure, we ask for the least we can, and we never sell or share it for marketing. If you would rather not use a form, ring +44 20 8040 3413 or email info@manrajsfoundation.org. We accept an application in any format, including by post.

Fifty pounds can be the whole difference

Sometimes the gap between someone and their qualification is one exam entry fee.
